The annihilators and relative annihilators were studied in the theory of normal autometrized $ell$-algebras as members of the lattice of ideals. In this paper, these notions are generalized to any algebraic, distributive lattice as generalized compact and relatively compact elements. The results can be applied, e.g., in the theories of $ell$-groups, MV-algebras, GMV-(or pseudo MV-)algebras, and DRell$-monoids.
