About article:
Paper deals with possible explanation of the rise of regional planation surfaces in active orogens. Polygenetic planation surface relatively rapidly created in conditions of prevailing extension (subsidence) tectonics of young orogens is defined as tectoplain. Its rapid rise is due to tectonic downthrow of big part of the block under erosion basis, rapid retreat of fault slopes, expansive abrasion in transgressive regime, local sediment deposition that together with tectonic erosion eliminates isostatic compensational uplift. Forming of tectoplain is alternative hypothesis of the West Carpathians midmountain level creation in Miocene. Twelve verification/falsification procedures are formulated as a basis for corroboration (confutat-ion) the hypothesis. They contain analysis of spatial distribution and character of the Neogene sediments, fission track analysis, analysis of spatial relationships of denudation and accumulation remnants of tectoplain, and construction of complex dynamic model of regional evolution. Key words: planation surface, tectoplain, West Carpathians, landscape evolution, denudation chronology
