The steppe in Central Europe is an azonal element. Its origin is to be sought in the late glacial period when our territory was covered by a cool steppe. Remains of the steppe flora and fauna have been preserved since this time till present. Pedological, climatic, palynological, faunistic and floristic knowledge demonstrates the originality of steppes. The steppe formation on our territory may be considered also as potentially possible.
