The study of loesses and loessy sediments in the valleys of Poprad and Torysa rivers represents a new stage in the knowladge of its genesis and stratigraphy. Both the loesses and loessy sediments arose predominantly by eolian activity, by blowing out grain with Ø from 0.01 to 0.05 mm and Ø from 0.05 to 0.25 mm from the near areas. That is why there are differences in mineralogical association (Paleogene sediments in the valley of Poprad, area of neovolcanites in the valley of Torysa). Fossil soils of different types with preserved cryogenic structures, with manifestations of solifluction and fauna remnants are divided by loess complexes in the valley of Torysa. Selected positions have been classified stratigraphically as more detailed on the basis of thermoluminiscence data (TL).
