The possibilities of the „society-natural environmemt“ system research using the geographic information systems are considered. New advances in the geoinformation technology are described. The expediency of developing spatio-temporal modelling methods and artificial intelligence is indicated. The new approaches to representation of the spatial characteristics of anthropogenic natural environment systems are characterized.
