Functional polyamides from renewable monomers

Thesis project includes synthesis of polyamides by polyadition of biobased unsaturated butyrolactones. Prepared polyamides contain pendant hydroxyl groups, which can be used for further postfunctionalization reactions. Various diamines or polyamines will be used for preparation of the polyamides. The functional polymers at the polymer chain will be subsequently used for postfunctionalization by various bioactive compounds or for grafting of vinyl polymers or polyesters. Possibility to prepare nanofibres from these polyamides by electrospining and ability to use these materials for bonding of various active compounds will be studied as well. Study of catalyzed cyclization of amide groups will be also studied within the thesis. Synthesized polymers will be characterized by GPC and NMR.
