ESF-SCSS: Science Officer Secondment Position in Social Sciences Unit

There will be a new vacancy within the social sciences unit for a Science Officer, working on secondment from a Member Organisation. As you are aware, the SCSS had an ESF Member Organisation Forum aiming to promote internationalisation of the social sciences in Central and Eastern Europe (MOCEE) in 2006-2007, which benefited from the expertise of Tiina Forsman, from the Academy of Finland, and Berry Bonenkamp from the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, and this position builds on recommendations arising from their work.
This secondment project is aimed at increasing the number of CEE experts in the ESF pool and the ESF database and the main objective of the science officer will be to refresh and extend the database. The science officer will work in close collaboration with the database manager of ESF. Please find attached a letter from Marja Makarow, ESF Chief Executive Officer, and the relevant job profile.
This four-month position will start in April 2008. The deadline for applications is the 20 March, and interviews will be held on 25 March 2008 (in Strasbourg).
As you can see, the letter has been sent to the heads of all Member Organisations and specific contacts within the social sciences are copied into this message. However, if there is anyone you would specifically like to encourage to apply for this position, from your national Member Organisation(s), we would like to ask you to take appropriate action. MO contacts in the social sciences are also asked to pass the message on to colleagues who may be interested in this opportunity; it is an excellent way of getting some first-hand experience of how the ESF works and spend some time in Strasbourg, which is a beautiful city.
