A goodness-of-fit test for Cauchy distribution

An explicit formula for the quantile test statistic for testing goodness-of-fit for the Cauchy distribution is presented. The proof of convergence in distribution includes also an asymptotic representation of a trigonometric $L$-estimator of scale, which is shown to hold for the Cauchy distribution. Critical values for the test statistic are given for the range $n=16-55$.
