The publication by Eduard Horniš, active in scientific work at the Institute of Building Research, Bratislava, is a result of a systematic, complex, informative investigation of sands and gravels carried out gradually on all important rivers of Slovakia and their tributaries. The investigation has been carried out both in the field and in the laboratory. The work comprises results from the investigation of sand and gravel from 34 localities of the Hron River and from 6 localities of its major tributaries. The work concludes with an appropriate summary of the results, at the same time pointing out certain theoretical as wells practical knowledge important for the building industry.
