Stručná charakteristika terás Žitavy v Podunajskej nížine

On the basic of a complex Quaternary-geological and geomorphological research, the author presents new knowledge of the Žitava valley development during the Quaternary. On the basis of a complex analysis of the terraces, the author gives both their morphological and geological characteristics and assigns their stratigraphic position. He brings new knowledge of paleohydrographic changes of the Žitava in the Pleistocene, namely in the Southern part of the Hronská Pahorkatina hilly land. He calls attention to a marked influence of the young tectonics on the development of the respective part of the Danube Lowland during the Quaternary.
