The solution of recent problems that are concentrated in the landscape sphere is inevitably connected with the evaluating and deciding methodologies. This is possible, however, only through gaining a perfect control of both the evaluating and deciding processes. Therefore it is necessary to formulate the stages of the evaluating process in relation to the landscape system. These are aimed at determining targets for evaluation of the landscape system, at selection of criteria for the evaluation, at measuring of evaluation criteria and finally at aggregation of evaluation criteria of the landscape system. The decision process and its significance from the viewpoint of landscape planning are analyzed in details. The essential portion of the paper is formed by a classification of evaluating and deciding methods, namely from the viewpoint of the needs of planning practice.
