For the purposes of soil utilization In various branches of national economy applied soil classifications systems are necessary, which may be compiled on a basal pedological classification, The subject matter in evaluation lies in choosing characteristic features necessary for compiling applied classification systems, which form, as a rule, limits of potential or considered utilization of the soil. For the biological utilization of soil it is the soil fertility, which cannot be identical with yields. Terms like natural, artificial, potential, effective and economic fertility are analysed. The production ability of soil is a relative quantity in relation to a crop cultivated. Parameters of the first-order agricultural soil ideotype are suggested that gives presuppositions to reach yields for deciding crops in the ČSSR, which are close to their genetic potentials. For evaluating the production ability of soils the parametric-synthetic method is suggested to be applied, which takes into consideration the influence of both altered and absent parameters as to the first-quality soil. The author calls attention to an unstability of the system in space and time, especially due to positive or negative interventions of man to the soil properties as well as to a relativity in relation to crop plants and to the entire agricultural system, A suggestion Is submitted for evaluating the suitability of territory as to the perspective optimization in the ČSSR soil resources utilization.
