The article is concerned with the questions of the relationship between natural conditions of settlement and communication network with application to Slovakia as a landscape with a dissected relief. It analyses the question of position of significant settlements of Slovakia in the past. Further it is concerned with questions of concrete natural conditions exerting Influence on the development of settlement in Slovakia on the basis of accessible geographical fundamental data with marking some favourable and less favourable areas for urbanistic development programs in a general view.
