doc. Mgr. Peter Megyeši, PhD.
Peter Megyeši (1985) is a researcher at the Institute of Art History, Art Research Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He completed his Master's (2011) and PhD (2014) studies in History and Theory of Art at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Trnava in Trnava. As an associate professor, he teaches at the Department of History and Theory of Art at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Trnava and externally at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. From 2014 – 2021, he worked as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Arts of the Technical University in Košice. He completed scholarship study stays at the Department of Art History, Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague (2010/2011) and at the Department of Art History, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno (2013). His research focuses on medieval and early modern art, iconography and iconology, emblematics, contemporary art, and issues of interpretation.He is a member of the editorial board of the journal Ars and served on the expert juries of the White Cube – The Slovak Galleries Council Award and the Prof. Karel Veselý Award. As a curator, he has prepared many exhibitions of contemporary visual art. Megyeši is the author of the monograph Obrazy, texty, významy. Interpretácie aplikovanej emblematiky (Images, Texts, Meanings. Interpretations of Applied Emblematics) (Trnava 2022) and co-editor of the books Obraz ako predmet transdisciplinárneho skúmania (The Image as an Object of Transdisciplinary Research) (Trnava 2012) and Príbehy pamiatok a obrazov: Zborník príspevkov k sedemdesiatinám Ivana Gojdiča (Stories of Monuments and Images: A Collection of Contributions to the Seventieth Birthday of Ivan Gojdič) (2019). In addition to conference proceedings and chapters in collective monographs, he has published in Umění, Ars, Pamiatky a múzeá, Glosolália, Profil současného výtvarného umenia, Artalk,cz, Flash Art (Czech & Slovak edition), Vlna, Source: Notes in the History of Art, and The Burlington Magazine.
