As a researcher at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, my work focuses on glucotoxicity and the pharmacological treatment of advanced diabetic complications. I am proud to be the co-inventor of cemtirestat, a groundbreaking multi-target compound that acts as both an aldose reductase inhibitor (ALR2) and an antioxidant, designed to prevent secondary complications of diabetes. My role spans validation and preclinical testing of this promising substance.
I have co-initiated three patents in pharmacology and contributed to 36 peer-reviewed scientific articles, earning a citation-based H-index of 14. Beyond my laboratory work, I also teach at the Slovak Technical University, where I guide students in developing QSAR models for predicting toxicity, including dermatotoxicity (practical applications), phototoxicity, and genotoxicity. These efforts culminated in a freely available web tool for researchers: MLTOX.
In recent years, I have expanded my expertise into in silico pharmacology and toxicology, using computational methods to drug discovery and safety assessment. My contributions have been recognized through several national and international awards.
