Jana Belišová is a researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology SAS, the head of the Department of Musicology of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Comenius University in Bratislava, and director of the civic association Žudro. For more than twenty years she has specialized in the music of the Roma and she is the initiator of numerous projects. She inclines towards the anthropological movement in ethnomusicology. She focuses on multidisciplinary topics, such as audiovisual ethnomusicology, urban ethnomusicology and applied ethnomusicology. She also collaborates with nonprofit organizations and schools. She is member of the International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM), study groups Music and Minorities and Audiovisual Ethnomusicology and an honorary member of Instituto letteratura Musicale Concentrazionaria / Scientific Committee.
