Doc. JUDr. Lucia Žitňanská, PhD.

After attending high school in Bratislava, in 1987 Doc. JUDr. Lucia Žitňanská, PhD. graduated from the Faculty of Law at the Comenius University in Bratislava. She defended her doctoral thesis (JUDr.) in 1988 and while working as an assistant lecturer at the Department of Commercial and Economic Law, she defended her PhD. thesis. She worked as a junior lecturer and from 2002 until 2006 as a PhD. senior lecturer. She also worked as a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Law at the Pan-European University and later headed its Institute of Private Law for several years. Since 2018, she has worked as a senior lecturer at the Department of Civil and Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law at the University of Trnava. She is a former Minister of Justice as well as a former Member of Parliament of the Slovak Republic. Aside from various activities in advisory capacity and occasional arbitrations, she focuses mainly on legislative activities related to commercial law as a member of different working groups and of the Legislative Board of the Government of the Slovak Republic. She participates in the recodification process of private law as the head of the working group for the recodification of company law. Specializing in commercial law, she currently focuses on company law and issues related to imminent bankruptcies and company bankruptcies primarily in regard to liabilities of company directors.
