prof. Ing. Marek Sokáč, PhD.
Senior researcher at the Institute of Hydrology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, where he also holds the position of Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Hydrology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. In his scientific, research and pedagogical activities, he focuses on the issues of hydrology of urbanized areas, water quality, hydrodynamic dispersion and numerical modeling in these topics.He is the author of more than 220 professional and scientific publications, conference papers, was the supervisor of 68 doctoral, diploma and bachelor theses. He was the responsible investigator or co-investigator of more than 24 research projects. The most significant research projects include cooperation in the EU projects “Detection of Watercourse Contamination in Developing Countries using Sensor Networks” (FP7) and the project “SYnergy of integrated Sensors and Technologies for urban sEcured environMents” (Horizon 2020).
He collaborated on more than 50 projects for engineering practice, 35 expert reports, and on the preparation of Government Regulation No. 296/2010 Coll. He was the project manager of the project "Improvement of the environment in the Liptov region" co-financed from the Cohesion Fund (73.1 km of sewer networks, 7 pumping stations, 10.52 million EUR). He is a member of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers as an authorized civil engineer.
