A search for integrating aspects of various field concepts in geography is presented. A formal basis of the unification can be a tensor calculus. Functional types of geographical fields are defined on the basis of a dual concept of the landscape (matter and energy on the one side and values and information on the other) and a causal triad: initiation – process – state. Special attention is paid to definition and hierarchy of initiatory geographical fields. Possibility to derive them by using of cultural landscape structure is outlined. The problem of transformation of geographical fields into geographical objects and vice-versa is also outlined.
