About article:
We present recent modelling of equilibrium element stratification due to atomic diffusion (i.e. stratification such that the particle flux becomes zero) in CP-star atmospheres. We calculate the vertical distributions of some metals, including iron, in plane-parallel atmospheres of different effective temperatures in the presence of magnetic fields of various strengths and inclinations. The effects of element stratification on continuous opacities are also discussed. We compare our results to empirical stratification derived from CP-star spectra.
