We discuss a selection of problems involved in hydrogen Stark broadening calculations in white dwarf atmosphere conditions. The ion dynamics issue, the description of quadrupolar interactions, and the Zeeman splitting due to strong magnetic fields are successively considered. Calculations of the Hβ line shape are performed as an illustration.
