The author of the study analyses the friendship of P. O. Hviezdoslav, the greatest poet of Slovakia, and R. Zawiliński, a Polish ethnologist, who between 1890-1917 explored the Goral regions of Kysuce, Orava and Spiš. Later in the period of 1918-20 R. Zawiliński gave the results of his research to the service of politics.
