Hodnotenie a mapovanie kvality poľnohospodárskych pôd Slovenska

The paper evaluates the quality of the agricultural soils based on production, environmental parameters, and their threat potential. Partial soil indices were developed from the available databases on soil parameters at the district level in Slovakia (ranging from 1, which is the highest rate, to 5, which is the lowest rate). These indices represent the soil point value, potential phytomass production, soil bioenergy, soil ability for water accumulation, transformation and immobilization of risk elements, transformation of organic pollutants, indices of soil risk from water erosion, compaction, and organic matter decrease. By partial indices intersection, the so-called integrated index of agricultural soil quality was created for all districts of Slovakia. The analysis of the overall quality of agricultural soils in Slovakia shows that the lowest quality soils are located in the area of Slovak Ore Mountains (Slovenské rudohorie), Slovak Central Mountains (Slovenské stredohorie), or the Fatra-Tatra Area (Fatransko-tatranská oblasť). The highest quality soils are located in the Danube, East Slovak, and Záhorská nížina lowlands. The results can help to streamline the economic and environmental planning, not only for farmers but also for the land fund.
