The unique feature of Eliade’s fantastic prose lies in the narrative building upon an initiating structure and reflecting mythological consciousness, which is perceived by the author as a means of escaping historical relativism. The initiated author can see a different world, a possible world that surpasses the material one, and he is able to bring this vision to the reader. Eliade reveals the magical in this world, portrays the fantastical events in an otherwise realistic tone and brings myths into contemporary social relevance, which brings his fantastic prose close to the processes of magical realism.
