About article:
This paper follows the author's article „The Average and Standard Central Distances as Measures of Geographical Concentration“ (Journal of the Czechosl. Geogr. Soc. 1967, p. 24 – 35) and represents the development and new applications of mentioned quantitative methods. This article deals mostly with the problem of dislocation of population around the capitals of Czechoslovak regions and with the problem of location of these centres. The first step for measuring the concentration and centrality is to find out the average central dislocation of population which we can demonstrate by a circle. The gross index of radial concentration I is counted as a ratio of the half area of a region and the area of a circle. The ret index I represents reduced index I. The highest values occur in regions with great and centrally located capitals (Praha, Brno).
