About article:
The present work evaluates the balance of all kinds of waters in Slovakia, of the surface waters, sources, underground, mineral and thermal waters. As for water resources, the geographical position of Slovakia in central Europe is very unfavourable. Slovakia receives yearly 31 mld, 500 mil m3. of water, in form of precipitations. From this amount, on the annual average, 13,2 mld. m3run away in surficial flows and the rest evaporates or infiltrates into the earth crust. In Slovakia, barrages are built in order to utilize more economically the waters for energetic, irrigation or drinking water purposes. Slovakia does not possess enough exploitational reserves of underground water, but in the future, they may be provided by artificial infiltration.
