About article:
In 1837, Franz Raffelsperger introduced the so-called typometric method of map reproduction. His activity as cartographer may be divided in two roughly equally long periods. Within the first period he elaborated 20 traffic maps – maps of stage-coach routes. In the second period he published 38 geographical maps for general use and especially for geography teaching, which, due to the new reproduction method were produced at a very low cost. These maps were issued in several, up to 10 editions. Some of his traffic maps have served as sources for historico-geographical studies. The maps 19a and 19f of the Atlas of Czechoslovak History provide evidence of this fact.
