The paper brings an analysis of snow cover variations in time and space using two characteristics: annual number of days with snow cover and annual sums of its diurnal depths. Moreover, the snow cover variations are observed using also positive and negative deviations from the SO-year average. As can be seen from the results, annual number of days with snow cover and annual sums of its depth are changed in two cycles: longer 30 – 40 year cycles and shorter 10 – 15 year cycles. However, the general trend in variations of both characteristics Is not the same. The curve of the annual number of days with snow cover has a permanent tendency close to the average; annual sums of diurnal depths show permanent decrease. The analysis of positive and negative deviations from the 60-year average showed the similar tendency. The comparison between the course of area rainfall for the period 1921 – 1980 and the course of both characteristics, showed only small agreement.
