The article deals with the geographer Prof. Jan Hromádka on the occasion of his birth centenary. Prof. Hromádka is the founder of modem geography in Slovakia. His Works form the basis of development above all in geomorphology and regional geography of the Slovak Socialist Republic, being significant contribution to the other geographic disciplines.
