The first systematic floristic observation of phycoflora is presented from six selected show caves in Slovakia (Belianska, Bojnická, Bystrianska, Gombasecká, Domica and Driny). A total of 26 taxa were identified, comprising cyanobacteria (5), diatoms (5) and chlorophytes (16). The soil species of cyanobacteria and algae are dominated in this special subterranean environment. The species Myrmecia incisa Reisigl, Chlorella emersonii Shihira et Krauss, Scotiellopsis reticulata Punčochářová & Kalina and Klebsormidium crenulatum (Kützig) Lokhorst are first records for the territory of the Slovak Republic
