The relationship between herb fringe communities and environmental conditions is discussed at the level of class Trifolio-Geranietea in Europe. Some generalised features it this type of ecotone vege-tation are showed on example of fringes strongly influenced by acidic sandy soils, resulting into high portion of psamophilous and acidophilous species. The differences against other fringe communities evoke in a future to describe a new separate association
