A new approach to fuzzy orderings

Previous approaches to fuzzy orderings have the particular disadvantage that strict antisymmetry criteria lead to analytical properties, which can be unsuitable for real-world applications. In this contribution, a new approach is presented, which overcomes these problems. The key idea is to replace the crisp equality in the definition of reflexivity and antisymmetry by a fuzzy equivalence relation.
