| Annotation: | Religion and national identity are very much entwined in many Central Eastern European countries. The ERC-funded SOVEREIGNTY project will explore why the modern state (with its claim to sovereignty) cares so much about secularisation and (re)sacralisation. The initiative will therefore investigate the (pre)history of the conflict-ridden relationship between transnational institutions and the modern state and also the players who stood at the point of intersection of the two. Specifically, it will analyse the shifts in relations between the state and one of the oldest transnational institutions in the world, the Catholic Church. |

| Annotation: | History of the Faculty of Medicine, CU in Bratislava 1949-1968 has not yet been the subject of systematic scientific treatment. Research team, composed of three departments and several scientific disciplines, classifies research of the faculty into the category of intellectual and social elites and the history of science. Individual outputs of the project are linked to previous Vega project from years 2018-2021, and the researchers intend to continue chronologically to summarize and critique the findings based on previously unpublished (and partially unprocessed) archival materials. The project is divided into sub-groups (socio-political background, reforms, relationship of state authorities, history of departments, biographies, teaching and practice, development of scientific disciplines, students and alumni, memoirs, etc.), the comparison of which will provide a comprehensive picture. Scientific outputs of the ambitious schedule are linked to milestones in the history of Slovakia and history of science. |

| Annotation: | The project focuses on little-known repatriation, re-emigration and relocation actions implemented by state power structures in the 1940s. The emphasis is on processes in the Slovak Republic and Czechoslovakia, but the project also pays attention to comparisons with similar processes in Central Europe. It focuses mainly on the repatriation of Slovaks from France, Belgium and occupied Poland and the so-called asocials of German nationality from Slovakia to Germany during the Second World War, the issue of Displaced Persons in the post-war period, refugees from the Czechoslovak Republic after February 1948 and a comparison with similar events in Poland. The main task of the project is the analysis of the personnel and institutional aspect of the researched processes, the analysis of their motives, course and impacts in the economic, political, social and cultural field. |
