Annotation
Epoxy resins are widely used in many applications, such as protective coatings, adhesives, construction materials for aircraft and rockets. The curing of epoxy resins by frontal polymerization is a very promising technique for the preparation of thick composite material that requires only a minimum of energy and time and is, therefore, a low-cost process.
The goal of this thesis would be to study conditions influencing the microstructure and the course of reaction for the preparation of cured epoxy composites. Besides practical characterization of this frontal polymerization process, materials will be characterized by the thermocouple set-up, PALS and ATR-FTIR.
Student will gain knowledge and skills which will be developed in collaboration with TU Wien and industry.
