Annotation
Eukaryotic cells have evolved two mechanistically distinct pathways to repair DSBs during mitosis: non-homologous end joining (NHEJ) and homologous recombination (HR). Our latest research revealed that the mutants carrying deletions of genes involved in the HR pathway exhibited more than 500 significantly upregulated genes, enriched for transcripts from subtelomeric genes, LTR retrotransposons, and antisense transcripts. The aim of a PhD project will be to reveal the mechanisms underlying this new phenomenon.
