Annotation
Heavy-weight concretes are scarcely explored because properties other than compressive strength are more decisive in using this type of concrete, especially in constructing massive structures around a nuclear reactor for radiation protection. On the other hand, developing a new type of composite cement corresponding to low-carbon cement, fully accepted and implemented in mortar standards, is still not fully accepted as a reliable binder for concrete. The Ph.D. student will develop concrete with a bulk density higher than 2600 Kg.m-3 using recycled aggregate combined with barite or magnetite as filler and with low-carbon cement as a binder.
