Annotation
Intrinsically disordered tau protein plays a decisive role in the pathology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other tauopathies. Tau protein doesn‘t acquire a stable 3D structure and can be characterized as an ensemble of transient structures – conformational ensemble (CE). CE can be characterized using biophysical methods e.g. solution NMR and by computational methods of molecular dynamics. The aim of the project is to characterize the CEs of physiological tau proteins and CEs of tau proteins after postranslational modifications that may have pathological effects (e.g. truncation and hyperphosphorylation).
