Annotation
Toxoplasmosis and toxocariasis are cosmopolitan parasitic zoonoses important in both, human and veterinary medicine. Toxoplasmosis in particular can cause serious health problems in immunocompromised persons and pregnant women. Dissertation study will bring priority results about the occurrence of Toxoplasma gondii and Toxocara spp. in domestic and wild animals used for food production and in sentinel species aiming to identify human infection risk. Occurrence of infections in patients with immunosuppression, persons in different risk of infections and in children from different socioeconomic conditions will be also studied. Phylogenetic analyses of isolates aiming to identify genotypes of T. gondii and Toxocara spp. in Slovakia and to compare their occurrence in human patients and animals will be also performed.
