Annotation
This dissertation aims to study the effects of natural and synthetic compounds on the activation of the SERCA enzyme and the protection of pancreatic beta-cell lines under experimental conditions associated with elevated glucose levels, such as those observed in diabetes mellitus. Diabetic conditions will be induced using glucose metabolites (methylglyoxal), free fatty acids (palmitate), and cytokines. Subsequently, the protective effects of the compounds will be investigated to prevent damage caused by the aforementioned inducers. The findings of this dissertation will contribute to clarifying the mechanisms of hyperglycemia at the cellular level and the mechanisms of action of novel compounds capable of mitigating damage caused by glucotoxicity.
