Annotation
Current interventions for reducing conspiracy theory beliefs show limited effectiveness which may be due to the fact that most of them target individual cognitive factors and ignore the social dimension of conspiracy beliefs. Additionally, extant intervention efforts so far largely neglected to account for the fact that underlying social factors (e.g. social identity) may be causing both conspiracy theory beliefs and their negative outcomes. Therefore, this project will be aimed at examining intergroup emotions, social norms and/or other social processes associated with belief in conspiracy theories with the aim of designing and testing interventions aimed at reducing conspiracy theory beliefs and/or their negative consequences by addressing these social processes.
