Annotation
The topic of the PhD thesis is focused on research in the field of contemporary archival studies. So far, film studies in Slovakia has only partially dealt with them. However, the work with film archives of various kinds is on the rise in contemporary film production and this trend is widely theoretically reflected in the world. For this reason, systematic research on film archives is highly justified in our conditions. It touches upon various areas of scientific research: the perception of the archive as a memory institution, a resource for re-contextualizing and interpreting the past, a space for reflecting on the transformations of its functions, a database for the creation of modern myths and ideologies. The dissertation should encompass some of the thematic lines outlined. To characterize the differentiated approaches to working with film archives, to describe the original creative practices that use archival materials to create new conceptual works. Changes in the perception of the film archive have also occurred with the advent of digital technologies. It is no longer a space primarily for preservation, but a multifunctional space that combines library, gallery, museum and screening functions. It is a complex suitable for research, exploration and creation.
