The book A Man in History: Johan Huizinga and the Human Sciences offers an overview of the life and work of Johan Huizinga (1872–1945), considering its significance for the development of humanist thinking in the 20th century. Besides Huizinga’s best-known works the book also analyzes his other studies such as Men and Ideas, Dutch Civilisation in the 17th Century, and America: A Dutch Historian’s Vision in the context of the discussions of the period. An individual chapter is dedicated to Huizinga’s influence on Slovak humanities after World War II.
