Mgr. Dominik Želinský, PhD.
Senior Research Fellow
sociological theory, cultural sociology, political sociology

I am a Senior Research Fellow at the Sociology Institute, Slovak Academy of Sciences. In my research, I focus on three areas: (1) cultural-sociological theory of power and authority, (2) issues of populism, anti-populism, and the construction of truth in the public sphere of Central and Eastern Europe, and (3) contemporary Czech–Slovak relations and related theoretical questions. Before coming to SAV, I was a postdoc at University of Copenhagen, working on the ERC/Carlsberg-funded project "Who are We" (PI Dan Zahavi), exploring issues related to charismatic leadership. I earned my PhD from the University of Edinburgh in 2020. I am a Faculty Fellow at Yale University's Center for Cultural Sociology. I am an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Cultural Sociology. My work was published in journals like Sociological Theory, Sociology, European Journal of Social Theory, American Journal of Cultural Sociology or Journal of Cultural Economy.
