This PhD study addresses the challenge of monitoring soil spatial variability and its dynamic changes, which are crucial for effective soil resource management, but difficult to monitor using traditional methods. It proposes a novel approach by combining remote sensing (RS) technologies with soil spectroscopy to rapidly and accurately identify degradation indicators like organic matter loss, compaction, and erosion. A key activity will be focused on creating a spectral library of Slovak soils to enhance RS data interpretation. The research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of RS for monitoring soil properties, build a database of soil spectral characteristics through field and lab measurements, and integrate these spectroscopic data with RS data for improved soil property prediction.
