Annotation
Pyrophosphate and polyphosphates are chains of two to hundreds of phosphoryl groups connected by a macroergic bond. By cleaving this anhydride bond, energy is released and the phosphoryl group is transferred to various substrates. For example, polyphosphate kinases transfer a phosphoryl group and energy to nucleotides. The dissertation will be focused on the biochemical characterization and reprogramming of polyphosphate kinases.
