Annotation
This dissertation will research, evaluate, and analyze the development of the Stredoslovenské Elektrárne Company, based in Banská Bystrica, within broader economic, technical, political, social, and historical contexts from its establishment in 1920 until it became part of the nationwide company, Slovenské Elektrárne in 1942. The dissertation will include a theoretical analysis of the context of the electrification process in the first half of the 20th century. It will focus on the regional phase of electrification implemented in Slovakia with state support in interwar Czechoslovakia and in the Slovak Republic (1939 to 1945). The research will also concentrate on the company's management and personnel development, as well as the significance of electrification in people's daily lives and society in general, with a focus on central Slovakia. The dissertation will be based on archival research in central, regional, and departmental archives, as well as contemporary professional and economic literature and periodicals.
Applicants should have a basic understanding of economic, political, and technical developments in Slovakia during this period.
