Annotation
The author of the dissertation will choose dailies across the entire spectrum of print media published in Slovakia, in which he will observe the editorial and its functions. These can be identified based on the traditional description in Slovak stylistics, but knowledge of media stylistics of foreign provenance is also assumed, which undoubtedly influences the Slovak journalistic society. In this context, knowledge of communication strategies based on anthropolinguistics, but also on the psychology of communication, is relevant.
The editorial as an analytical genre of journalistic style has its obligatory requirements, which are reflected as specific analyses applied to specific editorial texts, or rather their types. In other words: analyses of editorial texts can lead to a hypothetical typology of this genre of journalistic style.
On the aforementioned typology, or rather the pragmatic intentions of the editorial author, which may be obvious – explicit, but may also be implicitly included, should also be involved in setting the criteria for its determination.
The work is methodologically based on communication theory, discourse theory and pragmalinguistics. From the field of pragmalinguistics, it is relevant to rely on the theory of address, which is specifically modified in mass communication.
The methods of empirical research are discourse analysis (which also includes linguistic analysis), content analysis developed and applied in pragmalinguistics and sociolinguistic methods for determining the attitudes of the mass addressee in media communication. It is assumed to work with the relevant database of the Slovak National Corpus at the Ľ. Štúr Institute of Linguistics Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava.
