Annotation
The thesis is devoted to the phenomenon of bells in European composed music of the 20th century. It is based on the hypothesis that many artistic poetics and compositional procedures of new European music were influenced by non-musical and musical sounds of bells, their rhythm, melody and sonority. The purpose of the work is to evaluate the influence of bells on the syntactic and semantic aspects of music in musical structure, acoustic and historical contexts. The aim of the thesis is to investigate and characterize the contexts and compositional approaches of the use of bells in compositions of European music of the 20th century through a complex musical analysis. The topic is part of the current research in the field of music theory, which is carried out at the Institute of Musicology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
