Mitochondria play a critical role in regulating the inflammatory response by producing reactive oxygen species (ROS) and influencing immune signaling pathways. Dysregulated mitochondrial function can lead to excessive inflammation, contributing to chronic diseases such as arthritis and cardiovascular disorders. Understanding the interplay between mitochondria and inflammation offers exciting opportunities for the development of targeted therapies to treat inflammatory conditions.
