Annotation
Phosphatidylglycerol is a mitochondrial lipid whose role in yeast has been overlooked until now. However, we have recently discovered that this lipid is involved in regulating the activities of enzymes synthesizing important mitochondrial lipids. The aim of the dissertation will be to determine whether phosphatidylglycerol plays a role in regulating the expression of genes encoding mitochondrial proteins and, conversely, whether sirtuins (proteins that also regulate mitochondrial biogenesis) can influence the biosynthetic pathway of phosphatidylglycerol synthesis.
